Back Iarhibol Prayer/Visualization A Prayer to Iarhibol

Prayers and Meditations

IarhibolWe know from ancient writings that the peoples of the ancient Mediterranean and Near East prayed to the Gods, and also meditated informally on the deities and their powers. There are few personal prayers extant, and none at all concerning Iarhibol. The modern prayers and meditations given here have proven to be both useful and true to the spirit if not the form of the ancient religions.

Daily Salute to the Sun

To be said to the Sun in the Morning:

Hail to thee, the Eternal Spiritual Sun, whose visible Symbol rises now in the Heavens. Hail unto thee from the Abodes of Morning.

To be said to the mid-day Sun:

Hail to thee, Eternal Spiritual Sun, whose visible Symbol stands at the height of the Heavens. Hail unto thee from the Abodes of Noontime.

To be said to the setting Sun:

Hail to thee, Eternal Spiritual Sun, whose visible Symbol sets now in the Heavens. Hail unto thee from the Abodes of Evening.

A Brief Iarhibol Prayer/Visualization

Take a few moments by yourself. Stand straight (at "attention") with your arms at your sides, and your eyes closed. Let your body posture straighten naturally, and rise to your full height without going too stiff or tightening up so much that you are uncomfortable. Let yourself both relax and focus inward. (With a bit of experience this can be done quickly, so that the meditation may be done anytime at need).

  1. Visualize yourself wearing Roman armor, a Roman helmet, and greaves. Put energy into this image, building a "spiritual armor" to help strengthen your natural energy field. Say to yourself (either out loud or in your mind):

  2. I wear the Armor of Iarhibol and the Light. I am shielded from all that is harmful.

  3. Keeping the image of the armor in your mind, now see yourself holding a Roman sword and shield. Feel the weapons in your hands, spiritual tools that you have been empowered to use not only for purposes of your own, but also on behalf of Iarhibol and the Light. Say to yourself (either out loud or in your mind):

  4. I wield the weapons of Iarhibol and the Light. No darkness may stand against against them.

  5. Even as you retain the two previous images, now see yourself standing in a beam of bright light. The light comes down over you like a spotlight, leaving you standing in a pillar of illumination. Feel the light entering your body and spirit, and radiating forth from your head as a Solar Crown: Say to yourself (either out loud or in your mind):

  6. I stand in the Light of Iarhibol. In the Light I am invincible, for the Sun is my Guard and Guide.

Hold the three images together for a few moments, so that you can feel the three images surrounding you and filling you with strength and renewed purpose. Gently release the images even as you recognize the energies and the ideas behind them will stay with you, and continue with your day.

A Prayer to Iarhibol

If done during the day, this prayer should be said facing the Sun if possible. If this is not possible, or the prayer is done at night, one should visualize the Sun radiating light and warmth.

Iarhibol - "Good God" - I ask that you guide me to build that is good within myself, and to inspire others to goodness.

Iarhibol - "Baetyl of the Spring" - I ask that you fill me with the powers of healing and life, that I may improve my life and the lives of others.

Iarhibol - "Master of the Months" - I ask you to guide me in using my time and spending my years wisely, both in your worship and in the worship of the Gods.

Iarhibol - "Genius of the Army" - I ask you to fill me with your Honor and Strength, that I may be a positive force in the world.

Iarhibol - "God of the Sun" - I ask you to fill me with your Light, that I may gain your guidance, wisdom and knowledge.
